Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’m new to Canada and not sure if I really need therapy. How do I know if this would help?

Adjusting to a new country is a huge life change, and it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, homesick, or uncertain about the future. Therapy can help you process these feelings, build confidence, and develop strategies to navigate this transition. You don’t have to be in crisis to seek support—sometimes, just having someone who understands can make a big difference.

  • Do I need to have insurance to book a session?

Nope! While we offer direct billing to over 20 insurance providers, we also have sliding-scale options to make therapy more accessible for those without coverage. If you’re unsure about costs, reach out—we’ll figure out the best option for you.

  • Is a doctor's note or referral required?

Only if your specific insurance company or benefits provider requires one; otherwise, we accept self-referrals!

  • I don’t speak English fluently. Can I still book a session?

Absolutely! Abhishek offers therapy in English and Assamese and works with many clients who speak English as a second (or third!) language. If you’re worried about communication, we can adjust the pace of sessions to make sure you feel comfortable and heard.

  • I’m looking for support for my child who is struggling with the move. Do you work with kids and teens?

Yes! Moving to a new country can be tough on kids, especially when they’re adjusting to a new school, new friends, and a different culture. We offer therapy for ages 7+ to help them feel more confident and comfortable in their new environment.

  • What if I start therapy and realize I don’t need long-term support?

That’s totally fine! Therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing. Some people find that just a few sessions help them get back on track, while others prefer ongoing support as they continue adjusting. We’ll work together to create a plan that makes sense for you.
