Grief Counselling in West Edmonton
There’s no right way to grieve.
There’s just your way, and we’re here to help you carry it.
Grief isn't only about death. It can show up after any kind of loss, and it rarely follows the neat stages people talk about.
You might be navigating:
The death of a parent, partner, child, or friend
The loss of a pet
Pregnancy loss, miscarriage, or infertility
The end of a relationship or marriage
A chronic illness or health diagnosis
The loss of employment
What grief can look like
How grief counselling helps
Grief counselling isn't about "moving on" or getting over it. It's a space to untangle what's heavy, make sense of what feels confusing, and find a way to carry the loss that fits your life.
Your counsellor will meet you where you're at, whether you need room to talk, practical tools for the hard days, or help with the guilt, anger, or numbness that often travels with grief.

Losing a pet can hit as hard as any other loss, and people don't always know what to say. Sometimes they say the wrong thing ("you can always get another one"). Pet bereavement counselling gives you room to grieve a companion who was part of your everyday life, without having to justify how much it hurts. Ana offers pet loss support for adults, kids, and families.

Grief Counselling FAQ
-
How do I know if I need grief counselling, or if this is just normal grief?
Grief is normal, and you don't need to be "not coping" to deserve support. People often reach out when the loss takes up more room than they expected, when it's been a while but it still feels raw, or when they just want somewhere to put it down for an hour.
-
Is it too soon? Or too late?
Neither. Some people come in weeks after a loss, some come years later when something stirs it back up. There's no deadline on grief, just like there's no deadline on getting support for it.
-
What if I don't want to talk about it in detail?
You don't have to. You set the pace, and your counsellor will follow it. Some sessions are about the loss itself; others are about getting through the week. Art-based and EMDR options are available too if words feel like too much.
-
Do you offer pet bereavement counselling?
Yes. Losing a pet is real grief, and Ana offers pet loss support for adults, kids, and families.
-
Can I come in for grief related to an illness or diagnosis?
Absolutely. Grief isn't only about death. Jayme supports people navigating chronic illness, chronic pain, and the loss of the life they'd pictured.
-
Do you offer evening or online sessions?
Yes to both. We have evening appointments, and you can meet in person at our West Edmonton office (156 Street NW) or online from anywhere in Alberta.
