Most men don’t reach out until something breaks. Your partner says they’ve had enough. Your boss pulls you aside. You snap at your kids and don’t recognize yourself.

If that’s where you are right now, you’re not too late, and reaching out isn’t weakness. It’s a common place to start.

Man looking overwhelmed with post-it notes all over him.

It may have been building for a while:

Individual therapy is one-on-one support with a registered therapist. It’s your space to:

  • You’re shorter with people than you used to be, and you don’t love how it makes you feel

  • Work, money or family pressure is constant, and there’s no off switch

  • You feel flat or numb more than you feel anything else

  • Your sleep is off, or you’re leaning on a drink or your phone to wind down

  • You keep having the same fight in your relationship

  • You’re the one everyone leans on, and there’s no where for your stuff to go

If any of that sounds familiar, it’s a reason to start

What men come to us for

Stress & Burnout

When work, money and responsibility never let up.

Anger & Irritability

Getting a handle on the short fuse before it costs you at home or at work.

Depression

Feeling flat, unmotivated or stuck, even when life looks good on paper.

Relationships

Communication, conflict, separation and being a better partner or dad.

Trauma

Making sense of hard experiences that still show up in your sleep, mood or reactions.

Life Changes

Job loss, divorce, becoming a better father, or a move that shifted routines

Working shifts or a rotation? We’ll work around it.

Nights, rotations and 12-hour days make a standing weekly appointment hard. Book around your schedule instead. Both Abhishek and Carson offer a mix of appointment options, including daytime sessions and evenings. Can’t make it in? No problem. They can meet you securely online from home, camp or anywhere in Alberta.

How it works

Sessions are conversations, not interrogations.

Some men come in wanting their counsellor to take charge, while others need a few sessions before they’re ready to dig in. There’s no right or wrong way to approach it. Your counsellor will do their best to meet you where you’re at. They’ll bring the tools, you bring what’s really going on, and you work on it together. The aim is to leave with something to try before next time, but you set the pace.

Some of our tools:

DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) - Concrete skills for handling strong emotions. DBT can help you learn how to cool down fast, ride out a bad moment, and say what you need without blowing up.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) - CBT can help you spot the thought patterns keeping you stuck and test whether they hold up.

Solution-Focused Therapy - Solution-focused is less about digging through the past, and more about “what’s already working and how do we do more of it?”

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - EMDR is a structured way to process trauma without having to relive every detail.

You don’t need to know which approach you want, or what might work best. Your therapist will work with you to create a customized treatment plan that supports your therapy goals.

Meet Your Counsellors

Carson Keeler, MSW
Registered Social Worker

Carson believes that you know your life better than anyone else. He’s not here to label you or hand you a worksheet. He wants to genuinely understand what is actually going on and work through it with you. In session, you have the steering wheel. You set the direction, and he’s there to ask and prompt reflection. Carson understands that trust takes time, and his goal is to make sure that you feel supported and cared for.

Abhishek Bardoloi, MC
Registered Psychologist

Abhishek supports men who are navigating trust issues, relationship transitions, cultural identity dynamics, and persistent conflict patterns. His approach is collaborative and grounded, focusing on emotional connection, respectful communication, and clarity around shared goals.

Loree Mastel-Marr, MA
Canadian Certified Counsellor

Plenty of men find it easier to talk to female therapists, and that’s completely valid. Loree works with men, especially those who are navigating relationship dynamics or grief. She offers a steady, grounded presence to her work and a practical, no-nonsense approach.

Starting is simpler than you think

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is counselling for men different from regular therapy?

The tools are the same; the starting point is different. Many men were taught to handle things alone, so sessions focus on practical skills and plain talk.

  • What if I don't know where to start or what to talk about?

That's normal. Your counsellor will help to guide the conversation. Plenty of men start with "I'm not sure why I'm here."

  • Is it confidential?

Yes, with a few legal exceptions, such as a serious risk of harm. Your counsellor will explain these in your first session.

  • Can I do men's counselling online?

Yes. Secure video sessions are available anywhere in Alberta, including evenings.

  • Will my benefits cover it?

Most extended health plans cover Psychologists, Social Workers and Canadian Certified Counsellors. If your provider isn’t registered for direct billing, we’ll give you a receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Text us your insurance provider, and we'll help confirm.

  • How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you're working on. Some men come for a few sessions to work on one issue; others stay longer. You decide.

  • How do I choose between Carson, Abhishek or Loree?

If trauma is front and centre, Abhishek's EMDR training may be the better fit. If you want practical skills for stress, anger or mood, Carson's DBT focus may suit you. If you prefer to chat with a female therapist, Loree might be a fit. Your benefits can decide it too, since some plans cover Psychologists and RSWs, but not CCC’s. Not sure? Give us a call and we’ll help match you.

  • I work shifts or a rotation. Can I still do counselling? Y

Yes. We offer daytime and evening appointments, and video sessions you can join from home or camp anywhere in Alberta. You can book around each new rotation instead of committing to the same weekly time.

Ready when you are.

You’ve carried it this far on your own. You don’t have to keep doing that.
